Oklahoma Football: Quarterback Trevor Knight Describes Running Back Samaje Perine’s “Unreal” Weight Room Workout

first_imgoklahoma running back samaje perinneNORMAN, OK – NOVEMBER 12: Running back Samaje Perine #32 of the Oklahoma Sooners takes a hand off during warm ups before the game against the Baylor Bears November 12, 2016 at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma. Oklahoma defeated Baylor 45-24. (Photo by Brett Deering/Getty Images)Samaje Perine may have broken the NCAA record for rushing yards in a game as a freshman last year, when he put up an absurd 427 against Kansas, but somehow, he seems to be flying under the radar a bit nationally. Perine is a physical monster, as evidenced by this unbelievable photo that Oklahoma put out earlier this off-season:This is an unaltered photo of @samajp32‘s biceps. #94days pic.twitter.com/OTqxGCRc5z— Oklahoma Football (@OU_Football) June 3, 2015It shouldn’t be a shock to anyone that Perine gets after it in the weight room, but apparently his workouts are even more intense than one would guess. Trevor Knight told the Tulsa World about one arm workout that had the entire program talking:“He was out for a practice or two with a busted up ankle. He wasn’t practicing so they take him into the weight room to do an arm workout. He comes back out and someone was telling us that was unreal. Samaje did 10 sets of 10 with 225 … I can’t do one set of 10 at 225.“On the last set, he started pumping it out and, instead of looking at the bar and struggling, he just stared into the strength coach’s eyes and pumped out the last set. He’s just physically gifted.”We need video of the next time Perine does something crazy in the weight room. This is what Periscope was made for, Oklahoma.[Tulsa World]last_img read more

Photo: Ohio State’s 2014 National Championship Trophy Leaves Off Michigan’s Name

first_imgOhio State 2014 National Championship leaves off Michigan.OSU Michigan TrophyOhio State debuted a new trophy display earlier this month at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Included in it is the Buckeyes’ 2014 National Championship Trophy. On that trophy is a listing of all 15 games from the program’s 2014 title run. What is not on that trophy is the name “Michigan.” That’s right. For OSU’s victory last Nov. 29, the opponent is listed as “TUN” which stands for “Team Up North.” That’s the pejorative moniker Ohio State uses to refer to its biggest rival. Ohio State’s 2014 National Championship trophy leaves Michigan’s name off the opponent list: Buckeye Breakfast http://t.co/gNN5wRgqly— Doug Lesmerises (@DougLesmerises) September 17, 2015College football rivalries are just the best.[ Cleveland.com ]last_img read more

first_imgNick Saban considered the most prepared opposing coach in college football.nick saban most prepared opposing coachEach week, ESPN college football reporter Brett McMurphy releases a different kind of coaches poll – and it never has to do with ranking teams based on their play on the field. Last week, McMurphy’s poll dealt with the “most knowledgeable” fan bases in the country. This week? He asked college football coaches who the “most prepared” opposing coach is in the country. Alabama’s Nick Saban won.Urban Meyer, Bill Snyder, Ken Niumatalolo and Frank Beamer rounded out the top five.My weekly @espn coaches poll: most prepared opposing coach. Top 5: Saban, Meyer, Snyder, Niumatalolo & Beamer pic.twitter.com/fPRJIkvdUF— Brett McMurphy (@McMurphyESPN) November 21, 2015It isn’t that surprising to see Saban and Meyer at the top of the list – most fans believe that they’re the two best coaches in the game, too. Still, it’s cool to see that the other coaches in the game recognize it.last_img read more

Match Preview Vietnam Asian Cup 2019Iran are favourites to win this year’s Asian Cup along with South Korea, and will do well to build on the momentum that saw them nearly qualify for a spot in the World Cup round of 16 in Russia in 2018.This year’s team are coached by fabled Portugal manager Carlos Queiroz, and have one of the most talented sides in their history since the “golden generation” that knocked Australia out of qualifying for the 1998 World Cup held in France. They have not, however, won the Asian Cup or made the final of the tournament for 43 years, though they could change history this year.Amiens forward Saman Ghoddos capped off the scoring in the 5-0 rout as Iran gave a performance that cemented their status as frontrunners in the competition, though he was sure to dismiss any early dreaming for any possible glory for the current generation of the Iran side. The team won the Asian Cup three times during the 1960s and 1970s, though the midfielder has insisted that his side not get carried away with the first result.”That’s not a thought in our minds right now, because it’s a long tournament and it’s tough games,” Ghoddos told reporters.”We’re just looking forward to the next game, and right now that’s Vietnam. That’s important for us, to just think about the next game and not think too many steps in front.”To be honest I haven’t watched the other games, just to keep focused on my own game, so I don’t know the level yet.”The coach and his team have analysed them and we have watched some videos. It’s a good team, all respect to them. However, we are going to play our game and we are not thinking so much about the other team.”Vietnam coach Park has acknowledged Iran’s strong side but made sure to cast aside worry and doubt that may have lingered from their opening tournament defeat to Iraq.”We will be playing the strongest team in Asia tomorrow. They are technically, tactically and physically better than us but having said that, we will play to our strengths to get the desired result,” said Park.”It will be very hard for us as Iran are a highly experienced side but my players have got strong mental strength and I believe we can overcome Iran.”last_img read more

Neymar in tears after suffering foot injury

first_imgParis Saint-Germain forward Neymar was in tears as he limped from the field with a foot injury during the second half of his side’s 2-0 Coupe de France victory against Strasbourg. The Brazil star injured his right foot when Strasbourg midfielder Moataz Zemzemi attempted to tackle him three times before referee Johan Hamel awarded a free-kick.Neymar was angered by the rough treatment meted out by Zemzemi and got a form of revenge when he flicked the ball over the Strasbourg man’s head before firing wide from the resultant set-piece. Article continues below Editors’ Picks ‘There is no creativity’ – Can Solskjaer get Man Utd scoring freely again? ‘Everyone legged it on to the pitch!’ – How Foden went from Man City superfan to future superstar Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? However, Neymar left the pitch shortly after to receive treatment and, though he came back on, appeared emotional as he made his way down the tunnel with Moussa Diaby replacing him in the 62nd minute.Edinson Cavani’s early strike had given PSG the lead in the last 32 match, and despite Neymar’s absence, the French giants wrapped up the contest through Angel Di Maria in the 80th minute.Speaking to Eurosport after the match, PSG boss Thomas Tuchel expressed his concern for the world’s most expensive footballer, saying: “No, I did not talk to Neymar because he’s in the hospital. Yes, I’m worried.”It’s always complicated. It’s the same foot and the same metatarsal [as the injury suffered in early 2018].”The club themselves released a statement shortly after, which reads: “Initial examinations have revealed a painful recurrence of his injury to the fifth metatarsal of his right foot.”The treatment of this injury will depend on how it evolves over the next few days.”All options can be envisaged at this time.”Neymar’s injury further adds to PSG’s injury concerns ahead of their upcoming Champions League tie with Manchester United.Marco Verratti suffered what Tuchel called a “very, very serious” injury during Saturday’s win over Guingamp, and with the first leg at Old Trafford only three weeks away on February 12, the former Borussia Dortmund boss will be praying for good news on both players.Neymar PSG Paris Saint-Germain 2018-19Rumours have been swirling around Neymar’s future recently with the attacker linked with a return to Barcelona as stories continue to persist about his unhappiness in the French capital. However the Catalan club rejected reports they were contacted by the 26-year-old’s father and agent Neymar Santos Sr.Neymar moved from Barca to PSG in the summer of 2017 in a world-record €222 million deal. Barca’s great rivals Real Madrid have also been said to be keen on a shock move to bring Selecao attacker back to La Liga.Neymar was also forced to defend himself from criticism aired by Brazilian legend Pele over the ‘things he does besides playing football’.PSG are currently 13 points clear of Lille on top of the Ligue 1 table – and have two matches in hand against their closest rival. They are next in action against Rennes on Sunday as they look to maintain their unbeaten league campaign thus far.last_img read more

Drenthe: I regret telling Moyes to f*** off

first_imgFormer Everton winger Royston Drenthe has admitted that he regrets the hostile manner of his departure from the club following his falling out with then-manager David Moyes. The Dutchman, who spent a loan spell at Goodison Park during the 2011-12 season from Real Madrid, made 27 appearances for the clubs in his lone campaign with the Toffees. His stint in Merseyside came on the back of a controversial spell with La Liga outfit Hercules the year before that turned bitter following late wages and a decision to strike that irked then-Los Blancos boss Jose Mourinho. Drenthe was initially a hit with Everton, scoring or assisting seven goals in his first 10 games in the Premier League but the 2007-08 La Liga title winner endured a combative relationship with Moyes that ultimately boiled over towards the end of the season. The pair’s estrangement came to a crescendo after the player’s constant unpunctuality saw him miss a key team meeting ahead of the club’s FA Cup semi-final clash with city rivals Liverpool.Looking back on the incident that effectively spelled the end of his career in the top flight of English football, Drenthe states that he wishes he had resolved the matter in a less confrontational fashion.“I was waiting outside the room,” the 31-year-old told FourFourTwo Magazine, “whereas I probably should have just walked in quietly and taken a seat.“When I went in afterwards, Moyes told me to f*** off. I should have accepted it, but I said, ‘What do you mean, f*** off, bro? You f*** off.’ And then I left for Holland and didn’t come back. If I’d adapted more to Moyes I think I’d have reaped the benefits, as initially I did play a lot under him.“Together with my first months at Hercules, I had the best spell of my career at Everton.”Drenthe later spent two seasons contracted to Reading in the Championship, though he spent part of the latter campaign on loan with Sheffield Wednesday. He announced his retirement from football in 2016 after being unable to find a club but made a return with second tier Dutch outfit Sparta Rotterdam last year after penning a one-year deal.last_img read more

The End Of The Clemson vs. Auburn Game Was Mind-Boggling

first_imgAuburn's QB throwing a shuffle plass.Clemson survived Auburn on the road Saturday night, but it wasn’t without controversy. Dabo Swinney’s decision making during the game’s final minute is being questioned by Tigers fans.Clemson, holding onto a slim 19-13 lead, faced a 4th-and-4 from Auburn’s 17-yard-line. Instead of electing to try a 34-yard field goal to take a two-score lead, Swinney instead had the Tigers try for a first down. Wayne Gallman was stopped for two yards, and Auburn had the ball back with a chance to win the game. The Tigers then drove down the field, and eventually had two shots at the end zone. Here’s how it all ended:#2 Clemson knocks down the Auburn Hail Mary to win it. He said he wanted to put the game in the hands of his defense. What kind of explanation is that Dabo? #Clemson pic.twitter.com/8E30mR1wAq— Palmer Morris (@PalmTree27) September 4, 2016Of course, if Clemson had converted the fourth down call, the game would have been over.
